If You Build It, They Will Click

That adage may make you groan, but when it comes to the ChathamRecycles.org web site, it's absolutely true.

Launched on April 5 of this year, ChathamRecycles.org was created to function as the one-stop source for ALL information regarding recycling in Chatham. Not sure if the town recycling center accepts junk mail? The site tells you that indeed we do. Confused about where to purchase recycling stickers? Visit the site to find the info. Need to learn when the next hazardous materials collection day is scheduled? A quick click onto ChathamRecycles.org will give you the answer (September 8).

Whether you're a seasoned recylcer or have decided to start, whether you're a resident of Chatham or a business, the user-friendly web site is here to help you and to take the guesswork out of the process.

So how effective IS ChathamRecycles.org? We recently checked our web statistics and found some interesting facts:

70% of our traffic comes from first time visitors and 30% of them return to ChathamRecycles.org

38% of ChathamRecycles.org's total web traffic comes via a link on the Town of Chatham's official web home page

The most popular Google search term people used to access the site is "chatham recycling" -- though visitors have also used such terms as "reuse, renew, recycle", "chatham ma recycling" and "beach recycling containers" to find us

The site receives well over 100 visitors per month and our most trafficked day (79 unique visitors) was on April 19 of this year

76% of our visitors are located in North America, with 8% from the United Kingdom and the balance scattered in such far away places as Italy, Germany, Bulgaria and the Phillipines

Historically, the site receives the most traffic on days when our Chatham Recycles column appears in the Cape Cod Chronicle

It's all a good start, but this is just the beginning for ChathamRecycles.org -- and we have a long way to go. If you've visited the site before, we encourage you to come back to see what's new -- and if you've never checked us out, now's the perfect time.

How can we improve the site? What are we forgetting to provide? What can we do to increase recycling within Chatham?

We're here for you -- and, yes, we're only a click away.
